Costco Food Bank Drop-off

Frustration:  Many people who buy products at good discount from
Costco (a wholesale reseller) find they don't use half of what they have
bought.  For perishable goods people end up just throwing it away.  It is
frustrating to know that good food is just going to waste.

Proposal:  Need to set up a drop-off box at the entrance/exit of every
Costco so that a local food bank can come by each day and collect the
dropped off donated perishable and non-perishable goods.

Means to make change:  Contact Costco Management (local or
headquarters) and present frustration and idea for change.  Contact
Food Bank Management (local, national or international)
and gain support to work together on Costco Management to make this
change.

Progress toward completing challenge (as of Feb 2008):  I have
completed one half of this challenge.  I have a Food Bank willing to be
the partner with Costco to collect the items left by their members.
However, Costco is the hold up at this time - they have a policy that if
they help one non-profit they must help all in the same way.  I will contact
similar clubs like Costco (Sam's Club and BJ's - if anyone know of others
please let us know).  This challenge may need to be but on hold until we
have more members who can help back up the need for this change.
