Mardi Gras 2013 is Tuesday, February 12th (an early year - it is always based on Easter) 2300 Block of Napoleon Street (Parade Route) Uptown New Orleans 8am to 5pm |
| Uptown Mardi Gras 2013 at Ms. Dupre's What's it all about? Ms. Dupre (Jedda Jones) a New Orleans native had held an open Mardi Gras celebration for 15+ years... And then came Katrina! Prior to Katrina the community of New Orleans came to Ms. Dupre's house where all were welcome to watch the parades as they pass as well as also enjoy the good food and beverages provided by Ms. Dupre and her family as it lasts. The year of Katrina she accommodated 2000+ persons Since Katrina the celebration has focused on family and close friends... That is until Mardi Gras 2012. I brought a surprise guest to perform with me ... (after what I did for Mardi Gras 2011 I had no choice) Daniel Joseph Baker Semi-finalist from "America's Got Talent 2012" The primary reason for my efforts is to revive the spirit of the people of New Orleans. This one surprise is what did it for Ms. Dupre and her family. My second reason is to see 2000 people out celebrating Mardi Gras in front of Ms. Dupre's house again (because I never got to see it). I wish to continue what Ms. Dupre started with her generosity and love for the people of her native city. But in addition to the food, beverages and good times I have added one more ingredient: MUSIC I wish to provide entertaining and exciting performers each year as we carry on this great tradition. This is my contribution to post-Katrina New Orleans. I want the spirit of Mardi Gras to continue, the spirit of loving & the spirit of giving. Thanks greatly to Ms Dupre and her family for all they have done and now let's get this celebration going so we can all enjoy it well into the future. KoriBori Laissez les bons temps rouler!!! |
